I meet a lot of business professionals in my travels and I’m always really impressed by how everyone creates a very professional impression with their appearance.  They dress very nice and say all the right things in order to create a good first impression.

So why wouldn’t you do the same thing with your website?

Your website is your online presence.  For some people it is the very first impression people have of your business.  Therefore ,it’s really important that your website looks professional and credible and accomplishes three very important things:

1. It should be blatantly obvious what you do
2. It should tell people the benefits of doing business with you and differentiate you from your competitors
3. When people want to contact you (and they definitely will if you accomplish #1 and #2) it should be very easy for them to do so.  There is something in our business we call a “call to action”.  It means “what is the desired action you want people to take”.  Some examples are “call a phone number”, “fill out a contact form”, “download an e-book” or “purchase from your online store.”
